The Kenowa Hills Personal Mastery model of instruction is leading the state of Michigan and has redesigned education to engage individual students to master, retain, and apply needed curriculum for a successful future. Personal Mastery has been fully integrated into our classrooms at Zinser, where students are met where they are in their mastery of content, and are individually encouraged based on their areas of needed growth. Personal Mastery also means an increase in collaboration, encouraging teamwork, problem solving, and better understanding of each other’s thinking and perspectives. Students have a voice and choice in their learning, helping to develop as the future leaders of our communities.
Kenowa Hills Zinser Elementary is an engaging school community where parents are fully invested and students are focused on success. At the core of learning is our longstanding motto: Kids Who CARE. It represents how we want our students to treat others and their school work. We want students to CARE about their classmates, the staff, the school, the community, the planet, and their effort towards school work. CARE also represents our code of cooperation, standing for Choosing an Attitude of Respect and Empathy.
Zinser Elementary’s culture and school climate is built on relationships. We (as well as the district) have a focus on Capturing Kids’ Hearts in order to build relationships and teach our students effectively. The Flippen Group recently honored Zinser Elementary once again, as a National Showcase School through Capturing Kids’ Hearts, for the second year in a row! There are only 375 National Showcase Schools across the nation in 2021-22.
Through a variety of opportunities, both students and families can get involved. With programs like Zinser Family Council, Heroes in the Hallway, WatchDOGS (Dads of Great Students), Student Council, Boyz Club, and after school running clubs, there's something for everyone at Kenowa Hills Zinser Elementary!
